The Product Management Tool

The Product Management Tool is a convenient way to handle your products via your website. 
From this page, you can manage the categories, features, names, descriptions, images and much more.

How to find the Product Management Tool

To find the Product Management Tool, you will have to log in as an admin or a host user on the website. Then, you will see a new choice in your menu: PM

You can now select the sub-menu that you are looking for:

  • Product Management
  • Category Management
  • CSV Management

 

Product Management

Search for a product

When you select the Product Management menu, you will lend on a search page similar to this one, but with the look of your website.

You can type the part number of the product that you want to edit in the PM's search bar and select the one that you need in the drop down list.

Then click on the Search button, on the right side of the search and click on the Edit button of the concerned product.

You can also search by using the complete or part of the name of the product.

 

Edit a product

Here is the kind of page you will enter once you click on Edit:

On this page, you can see all the informations that were saved for this product.
Several options are available, it may differ based on the features available or not on your website. Here are some of the main actions:

!! IMPORTANT !! When you change something, do not forget to use the floppy disk icon to save your changes!

 

Activate or not a product

You also have the possibility to set it "Active". If "Active" is ticked, then the product will be displayed on the website, if "Active" is not ticked, then the product will not be displayed on the website.

Tip: You can easily see if a product is active or not on the website on the search page:

 

The Short description

The Product Description field will let you set a short description that will show up on the View A Product page:

The Tabs

The Basic Info tab

There you can change some of the basic informations to be displayed on the website, change the Display Order Preference (The smaller the number, the higher your product will be in the list/grid filtering view. You can set a value between -999 and 999), change the Sales Group Code, the Category1 and 2 if you are using them, etc.

 

The Full Description

There you can edit the long description that usually is placed underneath the basic product infos if this is available for your website.

To add a new long description, type using the text editor and then click on the + icon . Do not forget to tick the little tickbox on the right for the description to appear right away on the product page.

Once a long description has been added, these two options become available:

The Pencil is used to edit the description that you saved earlier.

The tickbox is used to activate or not the long description on the website. To modify it, please use the pencil.

!! IMPORTANT !! When you change something, do not forget to use the floppy disk icon to save your changes!

 

The Product Images tab

There you can add/edit/remove images displayed on the filtering and the view a product page on your website.

Add a new image

To add a new image, click on Upload Image to select the new image to attach to this product. You will be able to either upload it from your current computer to the website or to select it from the files already uploaded on your website, and stored in the file manager.

To upload a brand new image from your computer, simply left click on it, in your folder and slide it into the webpage in the square Drop File(s) Here:

You will be able to see a thumbnail of the image you just uploaded. Here, a blank image with the text "Test" written on it.

To select a new image from the images that are already on the website, look for the right folder first. Usually, people use a PI (Product Images) file. Select it in the drop down list:

Then select the file in the drop down list:

Either you uploaded a new image or selected it from the File Manager, you have several options before saving it:

  • You can set it as a main image or not by ticking this box:

    !! Note !! Only one image can be set as main. If an image as been set as main earlier, you have to untick its box to see the changes on the website.
  • You can add an Alt Tag. In case the image cannot be displayed by the user's browser, it will display this text instead, to inform the user about what he/she should be seeing, i.e. "Image of XXX product".
    !! Note !! This field is not mandatory.
  • You can add an Title Tag, i.e. "Side view of XXX product".
    !! Note !! This field is not mandatory.
  • You can set this image as active (= visible on the website), by ticking this box.

Once you are happy with it, click on the + icon  to attach the image to the product and save it!

Edit an existing image

To edit an existing image, click on the pencil next to the image you need to edit:

You will then access the same tool as adding a new image. You can now edit the options mentioned above, in the add a new image section.

Remove an existing image

To "remove" an existing image, you have to set it inactive, to do so, click on the pencil:

Then, untick the "Active" box and click on the floppy disk icon to save!

 

The Filters and Categories tab

This is where you can add a product to one or several categories and to make sure the user can find this product while browsing in a particular category.

The categories that are saved in your system will be in the drop down list. You can also add new categories to this list directly from the Product Management Tool. If you want to know more about this, please refer to add a new category.
From the drop down list, select the new category you want the product to be attached to.

Also, make sure that the "Active" box is ticked so it will be reflected on the website.

Then click on the + icon and the product is now attached to this category.

!! IMPORTANT !! You need at least one product to be attached to a category for this category to show up on the website.

To remove a link done between a product and a category, you will simply need to set the relationship as not active anymore. To do so, edit the relationship that you want to change by clicking on the pencil:

Now untick the "Active" box and don't forget to click on the floppy disk icon to save.

 

The Features tab

This is where you can attach one or several features to a product.

The features that are saved in your system will be in the drop down list. You can also add new features to this list directly from the Product Management Tool. If you want to know more about this, please refer to add a new feature.
From the drop down list, select the new feature you want to attach to the product.

Also, make sure that the "Active" box is ticked so it will be reflected on the website.

Then click on the + icon and the feature is now attached to this product.

!! IMPORTANT !! You need at least one product to be attached to a feature for this feature to show up on the website.

To remove a link done between a product and a feature, you will simply need to set the relationship as not active anymore. To do so, edit the relationship that you want to change by clicking on the pencil:

Now untick the "Active" box and don't forget to click on the floppy disk icon to save.

 

The Accessory Products tab

If you have this function already available, you can manage it from here.

All the products that are in your system will be in the drop down list.
From there, you can select the new accessory product you want to attach to the current product.

Also, make sure that the "Active" box is ticked so it will be reflected on the website.

Then click on the + icon and the accessory is now attached to this product.

To remove a link done between a product and an accessory, you will simply need to set the relationship as not active anymore. To do so, edit the relationship that you want to change by clicking on the pencil:

Now untick the "Active" box and don't forget to click on the floppy disk icon to save.

 

The Replacement Products tab

If you have this function already available, you can manage it from here.

All the products that are in your system will be in the drop down list.
From there, you can select the new replacement product you want to attach to the current product.

Also, make sure that the "Active" box is ticked so it will be reflected on the website.

Then click on the + icon and the replacement product is now attached to this product.

To remove a link done between a product and a replacement one, you will simply need to set the relationship as not active anymore. To do so, edit the relationship that you want to change by clicking on the pencil:

Now untick the "Active" box and don't forget to click on the floppy disk icon to save.
